yeah, i am not certain if wearing a tie and being on time (early in the morning) is worth an extra $55k for me...
out of curiosity, what would they do if you first spend 6 months being a good boy dress code wise AND working hard on demonstrating that you are a super programmer - and then suddenly start getting somewhat more liberal? fire you?
They'll start "talking"/"sending you a message", then your manager will talk to you pointing out on dress code, you're becoming "not loyal", and loyalty is one of important things over here.
personally, i'd take the nyc job just to have a chance to force a friendly confrontation. :)
there is always a chance that one can win, and if not - they'll have to fire me for dress code breach and i'll be telling that story for laughs during interviews back on the west coast! :)
